Mumbai: After achieving cult status in the country, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang de Basanti is going to be India’s official entry to the Oscars in the foreign film category. CNN-IBN correspondent Varsha Pillai caught up with a very happy Aamir Khan to know if he is playing an active part in promoting the film in the United States.
Varsha Pillai: Do you think you have been lucky for a second time with Rang de Basanti after your earlier film Lagaan's entry in the foreign film category to the Oscars.
Aamir Khan: Well I am keeping my fingers crossed. Let's see if we will be as lucky this time. Let's hope for the best.
Varsha Pillai: Will you be actively campaigning for the film in the United States?
Aamir Khan: I don’t think it will be necessary. I think both Ronny and Rakesh are extremely capable of handling this. And I have full confidence that they will manage to take the film to the members of the foreign language committee at the Oscars.
What needs to be done primarily is fairly simple actually. We need to try and make sure that more and more members see the film. And then you leave it to them as to what grades do they give to the film.
